This exhibition celebrates the unfolding landscape, the landscape of geography and of the mind, as folding concertina artist books. Whether these places be near or far, the folding form solidifies and shares these memories and moments.
About Jude Fleming
Jude Fleming is a multidisciplinary artist, drawing, painting, making collages and artist books. She shares her passion for art making with weekly classes at Westwing Studio, Warren and recently received a commendation from the NSW State Parliament as recognition for more than 30 years of community commitment to the Arts.
Jude creates artist books that address the sheer volume of paper products that arrive in our lives, with the inevitable outcome and intention of being discarded. She describes herself as being seduced by colour, shape, pattern and touch and is saddened, realising that ultimately these items will be landfill and have little or no ongoing value.
About the exhibition
This exhibition celebrates the unfolding landscape, the landscape of geography and of the mind, as folding concertina artist books.
The sculptural form that paper takes in this format becomes a narrative with the 3 dimensionality reinforcing that sense of time and place - its individual moments and in its entirety, as multi-vision or even simultaneous experience.
Some of my life's greatest joys are rejoiced and recorded in these artist books - walking to see and feel, walking through trees, bush bathing and through urban environments too. To travel in the landscape and recognize the connection to country and to the ground on which we dwell is something powerful, something FELT, something tingly ...
Whether these places be near or far, the folding form of concertina books solidifies and shares these memories and moments.
